Laura Lumpkin and Jon Gargis are happy to announce their recent marriage.

Laura is the daughter of Douglas and Peggy Irons. She graduated from Southwestern University in 2000, and earned her master’s from Florida State University in 2011. She is employed by Argosy University in Sandy Springs.

Jon is the son of Jeff and Elizabeth Gargis of Tuscumbia, Ala. A 2004 graduate of the University of Alabama, Jon was the education reporter for The Daily Tribune News in Cartersville from Nov. 2004 to Nov. 2010. He now serves as the editor of Dallas-Hiram Patch.

The wedding was held at The Conservatory at Waterstone in Acworth on Sept. 30, 2012, and was officiated by Lonnie Gilbert.  Laura’s sister Amber Gilbert was her Matron of Honor. Keri Ledwick, Liza Hicks, Jessica Grimm and Theresa Vance were Laura’s bridesmaids. Jon was attended by his best friend Patrick Harbin, who served as his best man. Serving as groomsmen were Nick Harbin, Adam Hoyle, Eric Hoyle and Anthony Mitchell.

Also in attendance were Jon’s grandmother, Sue Gargis, and sister, Heather Gargis, as well as Laura’s brother James Lumpkin.

The couple honeymooned in the Bahamas before returning to Marietta, where they now reside.
