The Marietta Police Department's training unit invites the public to learn about gun safety, laws and alternative weapon usage at a free seminar at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the City Council chamber at Marietta City Hall.
"This program has been developed to educate the citizens on current firearm laws and weapon safety," said Sgt. Jake King of the training unit. "We want to equip citizens with the knowledge and skills so they feel confident owning and handling a firearm or weapon if they choose to do so."
The program will demonstrate proper and safe use of firearms, citizen-approved stun guns and pepper sprays as well as explain current gun laws and recommended home-defense weapons
Citizens wishing to attend do not need to bring anything as information packets will be provided. They should not bring any firearms or weapons to the seminar.
