Bittner Is Marietta's Newest School Board Member

Brett C. Bittner came out victorious in Tuesday's election for the vacant Marietta School Board Ward 1 post, which was previously held by Logan Weber.

Brett C. Bittner claimed the Marietta School Board Ward 1 seat in Tuesday's election. Bittner ran unopposed for the post.

First-term board member Logan Weber announced his resignation in March because he was moving to Nashville, TN, for a new job.

Previously, Bittner served as an appointed member of Marietta’s Historic Board of Review as well as its Historic Preservation Commission, representing Ward 1, since 2010.

Bittner will serve on the Marietta School Board until Dec. 31, 2013, the expiration of Weber’s term.

Bittner received 245 votes, or 98.39 percent, in Tuesday's special election. There were four write-in votes, 1.61 percent, according to unofficial results from the Georgia Secretary of State's office.
