Nothing captures the spirit of Christmas better than singing carols, sipping on hot chocolate and nibbling on some red and green sprinkled cookies while adorning a beautifully decorated tree.
The Embassy Suites Atlanta – Galleria is celebrating its second annual Cobb Galleria Festival of Trees event, which will showcase 30 Christmas trees that have been decorated in a contest for charities. The second annual Cobb Galleria Festival of Trees is an excellent opportunity for the Atlanta community to make a difference in the lives of others by embodying the meaning of Christmas through fund raising for many worthy local charitable organizations.
Admirers will be able to “vote” for their favorite tree or charity by donating money in envelopes designated at each tree. The tree with the highest monetary donation will receive an additional donation from the hotel so every vote matters.
The trees went up last weekend and will stay up until Jan. 5, 2012, giving the community plenty of time to thoroughly enjoy the beautiful decorations and make a contribution.
The culmination of the festival will be the hotel’s Anniversary Gala Reception on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. The event will feature food, beverage and live local entertainment capped off with Santa Claus handing each organization their donations.
Last year the event was extremely successful and raised almost $14,000 for all of the participating charities combined. This year they’re looking to top $20,000, challenging the Atlanta community to really prove that it is far better to give than to receive – the true meaning of Christmas.
The Embassy Suites Atlanta – Galleria, located at 2815 Akers Mill Road, will be serving free hot chocolate in the evening for anyone who wants to come out with family or friends to enjoy the 30 beautiful trees.
