Don't Be Shy: Comment on Patch

Patch provides so many interactive elements it can be daunting. Make it easy at first: Just post comments. You know you want to.

Marietta Patch has only been live for 10 days, and already it has sparked comments from folks from Marietta and across Cobb County. You want to join in the fray... especially after reading that article about school boards or the threat of snow or just because.

Posting a comment is often the first and easiest step to interacting with an online news site. Patch has made it easy and has provided two key ways for you to put your opinion across to other Marietta residents.

First, nearly every article on Marietta Patch provides a comment box slugged "Leave a Comment" at the end of the article. To encourage comments, many stories also provide a concluding question or statement followed by a hyperlinked "Tell us in the comments."

That's the easy step. Your comment not only appears with the article, but also along the right rail of comments on the home page.

Patch also provides a "Shout Box" on the right side of the home page. (It's the one that says "What do you have to say?" and has a 255-character limit. That's more than Twitter!) In this box, you can comment about anything on Patch or anything else on your mind.

A reminder: You must be logged into the site to be able to comment. (See the previous Patch Tip of the Week for help.) We also monitor comments, so keep them civil. We generally do not edit comments, but if someone is abusive or profane, we do take steps to remove the comments and, if necessary, the user. Other users can flag a comment as inappropriate if they think someone is abusing Patch's terms of use.

So comment away, but remember to always keep it classy, Marietta.
