Field of Flags Unites Communities

On Saturday, 2,977 U.S. flags were placed at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield. Approximately 2,000 people showed up for the event.

The Marietta Kiwanis Club is honoring the lives lost in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, with the Field of Flags at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

On Saturday, 2,977 U.S. flags were placed at the field. Approximately, 2,000 people were at the field and 1,700 participated in the processional to the field. Attendees came from all over, some traveling from New York, Florida and Tennessee to commemorate the anniversary.

The public is invited to sponsor one of the 3-by-5-foot flags for $20.
