Guitar Collection Recovered from Burglary
A stockpile of musical instruments valued at over $100,000 was found off Merritt Road near Lockheed Elementary School in Marietta on Thursday morning.
Thursday, Sept. 5, Marietta Police discovered a cache of guitar cases and amplifiers on a deserted private drive near Lockheed Elementary School off Merritt Road.
The stock pile of musical instruments, which consisted of 13 guitars, two amplifiers and various related equipment, was found approximately 100 yards off the main road near a wooded area.
Officers seized the instruments in an attempt to locate the owner. No identifying marks or labels were discovered with any of the instruments or equipment, according to Marietta Police.
No burglaries were reported in the area, and no immediate leads were discovered, according to Police.
Detectives were able to make contact with one of the companies that made some of the recovered guitars and found an owner of the equipment through company records.
The owner was notified. His house was burglarized in another county two days prior.
The owner’s guitar collection, valued at over $100,000, was returned.
Marietta Detectives are coordinating with the originating agency to possibly assist with any leads in the ongoing burglary case.
