A 15-year-old boy was critically injured Thursday when he was hit by a SUV as he was crossing South Marietta Parkway near Franklin Road, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says.

The boy was struck by a 2008 Range Rover driven by Erika Chebuhar, 41,  of Marietta, the AJC reports.

Chebuhar, had the right of way through the intersection when she hit the boy, 11 Alive says. Police do not expect to file charges against Chebuhar.

The boy was crossing the road near a crosswalk but not inside it, CBS Atlanta says. He was taken into surgery at Kennestone Hospital.
