In 1776, a committee was formed to write the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Philip Livingston, John Adams and Roger Sherman all collaborated together to write the statement, with Thomas Jefferson editing the final draft to put before the Continental Congress of the time. It was passed on July 4th, 1776.

Communities, like history-rich Marietta, come together each year to celebrate the freedoms and rights that were written for us all, and to pay our respect and honor to those that have fought and fight for our Freedoms and provide us with safety.

This year’s parade celebrated a nation rich with a diversity of people, honoring the United States of America on such a historical day.
