Marietta Ghosts: The Postmaster’s Mistress

Have you seen or heard the ghost at the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art?

Katherine. The mistress of the old postmaster. The ghost of the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art.

The post office was built in 1908. In the 1960s it was transformed into a library. Now it is the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art. While the building’s role in Marietta has changed, there is one entity that is rumored to remain.

According to stories, Katherine was the mistress of a postmaster. The postmaster’s wife found out about the affair and shot Katherine in the building. Katherine is said to still reside in the building.

Lights being redirected, books falling, voices—Katherine is rumored to make her presence known from time to time. Have you ever heard or seen something unexplained at the museum? Do you believe in ghosts?
