Marietta Man Charged with Murder
Tony Lee Grant Jr. faces murder and aggravated assault charges after an investigation into a Wednesday night incident.
An 18-year-old Marietta man has been charged in connection with a homicide that occurred late Wednesday on Macland Road near Covington Drive.
Tony Lee Grant Jr. has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Jefferson Joseph of Hiram.
According to a Paulding County Sheriff’s Office news release, Joseph was shot in the chest during a fight just after 11 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries that night.
The U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) began an immediate investigation and was able to quickly locate and arrest Grant without incident.
Grant is being held in the Paulding County Detention Center without bond and is charged with murder and aggravated assault, both felonies.
His arrest came as a result of an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
