Marietta Police Officer Struck by Car

A Marietta Police officer was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when he was hit by a car while conducting traffic.

 

A Marietta Police officer was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when he was hit by a car.

Officer James McClure, 26, was working at the scene of a four-car accident on the Canton Road Connector near the Church Street extension, WSBTV, the AJC and The Marietta Daily Journal report. 

He stepped into the northbound roadway to stop traffic for emergency vehicles when he was hit, WSBTV and CBS Atlanta report. 

Christopher Peyton, 52, of Marietta, failed to stop his Nissan Titan, hitting a stopped Ford F-150 driven by James Dorden, 62, of Marietta, the AJC and 11 Alive report. The F-150 struck McClure.

Charges are pending against the at-fault driver, the MDJ and CBS Atlanta report.

McClure has been with the MPD for two months.
