Marietta Students Win Authors Competition
Eleven Marietta City Schools students were named system winners of the 2011-2012 Young Georgia Authors Competition.
Eleven Marietta City Schools students were named system winners of the 2011-2012 Young Georgia Authors Competition.
“Congratulations to all the students competing in this year’s writing contest. Their entries were well-written, organized, and enjoyable to read,” said Dr. Debra McCracken, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, in a press release.
Marietta City School 2011-2012 Young Georgia Authors winners include:
- William Poston, West Side Elementary, Kindergarten
- Caleb Gayner, Sawyer Road Elementary, First grade
- Julia DePasquale, A.L. Burruss Elementary, Second grade
- Kenia Garcia, Dunleith Elementary, Third grade
- Morgan Plog, Marietta Center for Advanced Academics, Fourth grade
- Junmoke James, Marietta Center for Advanced Academics, Fifth grade
- Akash Prasad, Marietta Sixth Grade Academy
- Lana Cross, Marietta Middle School, Seventh grade
- Anna Fenton, Marietta Middle School, Eighth grade
- Shanell Coleman, Marietta High School, Tenth grade
- Kylie Guckian, Marietta High School, Eleventh grade
The Georgia Department of Education selects from among system winners for the Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) district competition that includes entries from other area school systems. RESA district winners advance to the statewide competition.
