Mableton Man Charged with Murder of 45-year-old Girlfriend
A shooting in Mableton just before 9 p.m. Saturday has left one woman dead. Cobb Police are calling the shooting a homicide.
According to Cobb Police Spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce, officers arrived to 988 Mable Street in response to a 911 call that a person had been shot.
Dunton Street Lot Back on the Market
Smyrna city officials have put the vacant property at the corner of Dunton Street and Concord Road back on the market. The property is listed for $350,000.
In March Smyrna City Council authorized the Downtown Development Authority to purchase the 1.5-acre lot and demolish the partially completed steel structure there for $275,000 with money from the general fund contingency budget.
"Occupy" Homeowner Continues Vigil
A Northeast Cobb homeowner whose attempt to modify his mortgage was thwarted by a technicality is "occupying" his foreclosed home with members of several rights groups in order to broker an agreement that will keep him in his home.
Steve Boudreaux, who lives on Rubes Landing in Marietta, is staging a 24 hour, seven day a week protest on the front lawn of his home, reminiscent of the "Occupy" protests that occur in larger cities worldwide. On Monday afternoon, Boudreaux held a press conference to explain his situation and motivations for the occupation.
