Undead Invade Marietta Square
The Marietta Zombie Walk raised over six barrels of food and "substantial" monetary donations for MUST Ministries.
The first annual Marietta Zombie Walk brought hundreds of the walking dead to Marietta Square on Saturday.
"Zombies don't eat food, and so the undead are bringing food for MUST Ministries, and then they walk around the square," Lisa Hasty, wife and assistant to primary organizer Gary Hasty, said.
"They hobble, they crawl, they creep all around the perimeter for MUST Ministries," Hasty added.
The Marietta Zombie Walk raised over six barrels of food and "substantial" monetary donations for MUST Ministries.
Participants made their way around historic Marietta and the square for a 0.8 mile walk.
"Zombies don't move fast, so you can't make it too long," Hasty said. "We expect that to take a half hour."
"He (Gary) has always had a love of Halloween and zombies," Hasty said. "And we are very involved at our church and with MUST Ministries. So this is all about combining two loves into one thing."
The Earl Smith Strand Theatre partnered with the Marietta Zombie Walk through a zombie movie marathon.
