I was looking for somewhere to eat in Marietta and thought I had found a really cool place - until I realized they didn't have anything vegetarian on the menu and couldn't do anything to accomodate my dietary restriction. Since I was hungry and it was lunch time, my husband and I decided to try out Chicken and the Egg because, well, it was close. And, it had a really cool name. Let me tell you, it was the best mistake I have ever made. We live in Cartersville, but we've already said we will make the drive to Marietta to eat here again. And again. It was that good. Service: We were greeted by …

Tell us what your favorite Marietta pizza place is in the comments below! 1. I am in love with Marietta Pizza Co., particularly the Sicilian style pizza. The thick crust is always a treat. I love that the pizza can be ordered by the slice ($2 for thin and $2.20 for Sicilian). …
Canvas Cafe & Bakery has an open, sunny setting with plenty of seating. Whether stopping in for breakfast, lunch or a snack you won't be disappointed. Service: Canvas is located near Kennestone Hospital and has the steady business to prove it. While the restaurant is typically busy, the service is not excessively slow. There is often a wait, but it is not a long one. The service is friendly and welcoming. Coffee: Lattes, mocha, cappuccino, light roast, dark roast, cafe au lait—you know the drill. The vanilla latte was on the strong side, which can be just what you want depending on the …

We want to know what you think of the restaurants we checked out and where you think the best barbecue in Marietta can be found. So show your support for your favorite barbecue joints in the comments below! 1. Williamson Bros. BBQ never disappoints. The smell alone is enough to make me sigh happily. The baby back ribs were tender. The meat was a treat to bite into. The sweet tangy sauce was generously applied to the ribs. As an added bonus there was hardly any fat on the bones. Williamson Bros. is one of my …
Half a block away I paused to take a deep breath, the scent of something delicious drawing me farther down Powder Springs Street and into Kiosco Restaurant. From my first step into the restaurant I knew I was going to like it. Owner Eddie Bermudez, 24, enthusiastically welcomed me and sat me right away. "There is nothing like it," Bermudez, who has been with the restaurant for three years, said of the establishment. "It's a lively, very, very upbeat, very friendly atmosphere. People come in and they have fun." From my experience at the restaurant, I have to agree with Bermudez's statement. …
Marietta has a new hit on its hands with Okinawa Hibachi & Sushi. Over the last 30 years, Eddie Yap has opened 11 restaurants in the United States. He opened his first restaurant in New York at 23 years old. His first restaurant in the South was Sushi Zen in Marietta, which has changed ownership. In late February, Yap opened his second Okinawa Hibachi & Sushi in Marietta. The first one opened two years ago in Cartersville. "With Okinawa, Eddie wanted to open a hibachi-sushi restaurant, but unlike most hibachi restaurants the food is cooked in the kitchen not at your table," Public relations …
Chazz's Place is a new addition to Marietta. The prices are fair, the food is flavorful and unique, and the service makes you feel like you are visiting a friend. Service: The owner, Al, is personable and welcoming. He is eager to tell you about his menu and his recommendations. The food comes out fast, and I mean fast. Location: The restaurant is about two miles from Marietta Square. It's set out of the way of some of the hustle and bustle of the city. Don't worry; there is plenty of parking. Chazz's Place is clean and recently remodeled, as the restaurant had its grand opening about a month…
The edgy atmosphere of Simpatico provides a cool, fun setting for an afterwork dinner or a night out with friends. Simpatico serves only dinner. It was relatively quiet on the Thursday evening I was there. Service: The employees are very welcoming and chatty. The food came impressively fast. One thing I liked about this restaurant was that all the servers, whether they were mine or not, were helpful and inquired whether I needed anything. Food: Oysters Lomi Lomi, Tomato Rustica, Ravioli, Spring Rolls, Rock Shrimp Cakes and more—there are a variety of appetizers from $5.95 to $9.95. In …
Hollie Guacamole! Gourmet Burrito earns its name with good burritos and fresh, creamy guacamole that left me craving more. Located just off Marietta Square on Roswell Street, the restaurant draws a good lunch crowd. Both the indoor and outdoor seating is fairly limited and the inside is a bit crowded; however, the restaurant has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere to eat lunch. Service: The service was a bit slow, probably because there was only one man behind the counter, but he was very polite. Food: Chicken, steak, pork, tofu and veggie burritos and tacos; quesadillas, including cheese, …
I have a sweet tooth. There's no denying it. Since I moved to Marietta and began to spend most of my days on the Square, that sweet tooth has experienced an explosion of delights. Miss Mamie's Cupcakes, Cakes and Such. I don't order cupcakes when I'm out. I just don't do it. They have a tendency to send me straight into sugar overload and taste like they've come out of a plastic bag from the corner discount store. Miss Mamie's has made me rethink my attitude toward cupcakes at restaurants and bakeries. In short, they were amazing. Banana Peanut Butter, Carrot, Cheesecake, Chocolate Peanut …
Marietta has a lot of restaurants and finding the perfect one for a nice dinner out can be a challenge. Marietta Patch offers these suggestions for you Valentine dinner out. 1. Shillings on the Square. When suggesting dining in Marietta, it's impossible to forget Shillings. Hemingway's Bar & Grill has been a favorite of mine since I moved to Marietta. Yes, it is primarily a bar, but the service is friendly, the setting is welcoming and the food is satisfying. Service: I come to Hemingway's a couple times a month for a family lunch, dinner or an after show snack. I've never had bad service, and my dog loves it. The outdoor alley seating is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a meal on the Square. My beagle Jasper's favorite part of Hemingway's is undoubtedly that he gets two treats and a bowl of water every time we go, and he always gets served before me—lucky dog…
The Cafe Paris is a pleasant, relaxing find off the hustle and bustle of Johnson Ferry Road. Tucked away in a shopping center, Café de Paris is attached to the European style home décor store C’est Moi. There is indoor and outdoor seating at this cafe, and I chose to sit outside since I had my dog Jasper with me. Service: The service was polite and fast. I was there for breakfast, and my meal came out about 10 minutes after I ordered. Once I had my meal, the staff didn't come back to my table to check on me, but it's a cafe so that's what I expected. Food: The Cafe Paris serves breakfast, …
This was my first time in Tommy's Sandwich Shop, and I must say one thing—shame on me. This place was delicious. Tommy's has been located on Marietta Square since 1977. This timeless restaurant is truly a Marietta treasure. It serves sandwiches on seven different types of bread, and all sandwiches include a pickle and chips. Side orders of potato salad, coleslaw, soups and chili, and deviled eggs are available as well as brownies, cakes, pies and cheesecake. Tommy's also serves danishes, muffins, sausage biscuits and bagels for breakfast. Service: I was there around 2 p.m., so I'm not sure if…
Slow: That is what comes to mind first when I think of my experience at Blu Greek Taverna. Blu Greek Taverna is conveniently located just off Marietta Square. There is a friendly ambiance to the restaurant, and soft Greek music plays in the background. There is a very nice lounge area near the entrance. Service: The service is friendly; however, it is incredibly slow. I should have known the service would be subpar when I walked in, as I had to wait 15 minutes for a worker to even realize I was there. The waitress was helpful in navigating the menu; however, she disappeared for long periods …
Unimposing and easily overlooked, The Starlight Cafe has made its home on Marietta Square for over a year. The cafe is located on Roswell Street, but you can see Glover Park from the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating; though, I'd recommend staying indoors this time of year. I was at home the moment I walked inside. Quiet, clean, wood floors, classic dark reds and black, aged brick walls—I was comfortable. The walls are decorated with photos of famous singers and actors including The Three Stooges, Frank Sinatra, James Dean, Elvis Presley, Barbara Eden as Jeannie and more. I …
Marietta Pizza Company is my favorite pizza place in Marietta. With calzones, subs, wings, fries and taters, breadsticks, mozzarella cheese sticks, grilled chicken and salads there is a little bit of everything you'd want from a pizza joint. The hip and perfectly located restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating as well as delivery and takeout. The front dining room is very comfortable, open and light, providing a view of the square. The wooden booths and tables make the perfect setting for a night out drinking or a fun family lunch. The back dining room, which can be entered on Church …
