Windy-Mac Connector Will Help Marietta's Local Economy

I had fun checking out the new Windy Hill-MacLand Connector before it was opened! Here is my sunny approach to our new road, along with some pictures.

Some of us have had severe hardships trying to navigate through mazes of streets and traffic.  Now, it will be easier for businesses to encourage customers to come into Cobb County.  Marietta Square should see a boost in business, now that there is yet another road that "leads to Rome."  I can almost hear the joy in peoples' voices as they give easier directions:  "Just come up the Windy-Mac Connector ..." And, suddenly we're looking at some hot new options for doing business in Cobb.

But wait - there's a spin on this project - it's attractive to bicycle riders, runners, & pedestrians!  Yes, there are sidewalks. The project looks amazingly beautiful with the trees surrounding it.  Pedestrians were seen walking and running all over the new road the day before it opened.  Yes, I was there taking photos, which has become a "habit" as of late - I'm now up to slightly over 800 pictures, and I've owned my new camera for just over one week.  The bridges were designed with thought and appeal, and if you want a *really* amazing look, just go to Jim Miller park at an event and have fun gawking up close at the traffic traveling from under your feet.  It's just too cool.  Where else can you stand over traffic and feel like the King of the Hill?

What most people here in Marietta probably will NEVER hear about is the budding Camera Ready Communities effort to advertise Cobb as the de facto (new-ish) hot spot for the next Hollywood flick.  This road will give Cobb County a fighting chance to be the stage for the next great traffic-related or futureistic thriller with guns ablaze and cars flying off bridges - did anyone ELSE see that Terminator II scene in their head while traveling along the Connector?

And, yes, all those nasty dead shopping centres ARE listed as a "feature" in the data base, where film makers and project managers can search towns from a data base to get the right mix of scenes.

I am personally excited about the fact that we now have another straight shot to a "remote" area on the map.  The more roads that lead to business, the better.  While I am not a fan of SPLOST taxes, I will definately say we made a good choice with this project, regardless of how it was funded.

Cheers!  And let me know what you think of the pictures!
