Body Tech/Apprentice Needed ASAP!

Apprentice/Body Technician Needed. Graduate of technical program preferred, but not required in lieu of experience on the job.

Apprentice Duties and Job Outline:
The Apprentice Body Technician works in partnership with an experienced Body Technician to repair assigned vehicles. Damaged vehicles should be restored to pre-accident condition, following the written repair order and our operational excellence processes. The Apprentice Body Technician contributes to delivering on the promise of speed, quality and customer satisfaction, while gaining exposure and experience to advance his/her skills. 

Key Contributions (note: this is a general overview - responsibilities will vary depending on education/experience of Apprentice)
1. Pre-Op & Repair Planning: Approaches repair planning with a sense of urgency and detail to avoid waste and rework later in the process. De-trims and disassembles vehicles, putting parts on parts carts. Sets up vehicles for frame measurement and pulling. 
2. Parts Procurement: Assists in identifying and sourcing parts as necessary. Uses good judgment in determining when damaged parts can be safely repaired for cost and cycle-time savings. Helps maintain parts/materials carts in an organized manner. 
3. Team Engagement & Problem-Solving: Is an active and prepared participant in morning board meetings. Knows status of vehicles and is open to others' feedback on getting and keeping vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery. Helps problem-solve on vehicles assigned to other team members. 
4. Vehicle Repair: At the direction of mentoring Body Technician, performs quality repairs without passing on defects. Meets or exceeds our requirements for productivity as measured by hours per day for each repair order. Utilizes the technical information sheet attached to the work order for all structural repairs, replacement, airbag and mechanical work. Reassembles painted vehicle and painted parts after QC process. Keeps the sublet board for assigned vehicles up to date. Follows the quality control processes and contribute to meeting the return rate target. 
5. Safe & Organized Workplace: Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and follows proper repair procedures. Adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal. Participates in monthly safety meetings and utilizes information on the job. Keeps personal work area organized and returns tools, materials and equipment to designated areas. 

Position Requirements
• Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate strongly preferred; otherwise must have demonstrated experience and aptitude in mechanical/automotive arena.
• Knowledge of manufacturers' repair processes & adherence to our technical repair processes.
• Knowledge of the use of frame and measuring equipment.
• Must maintain a valid state drivers license in order to drive any customer or company vehicle.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued learning by participation in industry-required training.
• Predictable and reliable attendance required.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
• Periodic lifting and carrying objects over 50 pounds.
• Reaching above and below shoulder level.
• Able to push materials/parts carts and push cars (with assistance).
• Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping to complete or inspect repairs.
• Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate equipment.
• May be exposed to repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion.
• May be required to inspect vehicles outdoors in inclement weather, and heat/cold extremes in shop.
• May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, high levels of dust and noise in repair center. Must be able to wear protective equipment, including respirator.
