African American History Month Gala

Over a dozen programs have been scheduled at the different libraries throughout Cobb County to highlight African American History Month.

The invites the public to its second-annual African American History Month Gala, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. at the .

An afternoon of entertainment, culture and history in celebration of African American History Month has been planned.

Scheduled performers and presenters include:

  • the Unity Drummers,
  • the Zion Liturgical Dancers,
  • the South Cobb High School Steppers,
  • Deane Bonner of the Cobb NAACP and
  • noted saxophonist and recording artist Ravan Durr.

“We’re pleased to offer this program again to highlight the rich cultural history in Cobb County,” said event coordinator and Associate Director Thelma Glover in a press release. “Last year’s program was such a success.”

The gala is part of the library system’s series of African American History Month activities. Over a dozen programs have been scheduled at the different libraries throughout Cobb County; these events include story times, films, crafts and other activities.
