Alabama Controlled Burn Causes Smoke in Cobb
A smoky haze and the smell of burning in Cobb Wednesday night had residents scouring Twitter and Facebook for answers.
The smoke and aroma of burning that wafted throughout Cobb County Wednesday night didn't escape the notice of Cobb residents. Tweets from residents began about 7:30 p.m.
"It's a hot topic on FB. Friends in E Cobb, W Cobb & Paulding talking about it," Steve Crowley, Community Pastor at , tweeted to Northeast Cobb Patch at 8:45 p.m.
The smoke resulted from a prescribed burn in Alabama, just across the state line, reports The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Cedartown Standard cited information from the Georgia Forestry Commission that a 1,400-acre prescribed burn to control vegetation took place.
Forestry agencies use controlled burns as a way to eliminate underbrush that can fuel wildfires, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission.
