Applications Being Accepted for Cobb Pageant

The annual contest awards nearly $20,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Applications to become a contestant in the 54th Annual Miss Cobb County Pageant, a contest that entails nearly $20,000 in scholarships and prizes, are being accepted.

Contestants will also be competing for an opportunity to represent Cobb County at the 2012 Miss Georgia Pageant in Columbus, GA, according to a news release. 

“The program spotlights the talents and achievements of the most outstanding young women in Cobb County and surrounding areas, emphasizing their educational goals,” the release says. “During her year of service, Miss Cobb County represents the area by participating in various civic, social and charity events.”

The winner will be Miss Cobb County for 2012. 

The pageant is a preliminary event to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant, the world’s leading provider of scholarships for women, the release says. To be eligible, contestants must be between 17 and 23 years old, a high school graduate and have never been married. The competition is open to women living, working or attending college in Cobb, Cherokee, Fulton or Paulding County.

The deadline to become a contestant is June 26. Judging is based on a private interview, talent, evening gown and physical fitness.

The pageant is scheduled for Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. at Marietta’s Jennie T. Anderson Theatre.
