Let’s Go To The Hop! Friday, May 25 6:30-10:30 p.m. Marietta Country Club: In keeping with the theme of Gone With the Wind through the decades, enjoy a delicious dinner while celebrating the 1950’s with a genuine Sock Hop complete with 50’s music, dancing and (of course) costumes. The evening will be jumping as patrons don their poodle skirts, saddle shoes and penny loafers for an evening of fun. There will be prizes galore as special guest judges try to decide which lucky participants will win the Dance Contest, the Hula Hoop-off and Best Costume. Greg “Talmadge” Picciano (formerly with Atlanta’s 106.7) will act as emcee while spinning the hits all evening long. A few mystery guests just might be on hand for some fun as well!

Belles, Beaus and Barbecue! Saturday, May 26 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Glover Park on Marietta Square: You’ve watched the scene dozens of times and wished you could have been there. This is your chance to be a part of the Twelve Oaks Barbecue and re-live the thrill of that memorable day as you take a step on to the movie screen. Scarlett and Rhett, Melanie and Ashley, Sue Ellen and Carreen, the Tarleton Twins and many of the other characters will be on hand for the festivities. How do I know?  Because you and other fans are being tasked with making sure they’re all represented.  Plug into that ‘windie’ grapevine, put your heads together and make sure as many of our favorite and memorable characters are in the park that day as possible. So, get busy with those costumes but leave enough room for barbecue with all the fixings.

First Annual Windie Awards!  Saturday, May 26 6-6:45 p.m. For those of you who are active participants in the world of Gone With the Wind (i.e., attend all events, collect memorabilia, have a Tara’s Theme ring tone, own pets named after a GWTW character) you carry the title of “Windie.”  The Gone with the Wind Museum presents the very first Annual Windie Awards Ceremony to say “thank you” for all you do in the name of Gone With the Wind and for the museum.
