Cobb NAACP Recognizes Community Leaders

The Cobb NAACP will recognize Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Paisley Academy of Performing Arts, the Marietta Blue Eagles and others for their community efforts.

The Cobb National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will honor community leaders in community service, education, youth activities and business Friday at the 30th annual Oscar R. Freeman Fund Awards Banquet.

The reception is at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and the awards program at 8:15 p.m. at the Hilton Atlanta Marietta Hotel & Conference Center. Tickets are $100.

This year’s Community Service Award is being given to for its work serving the homeless, the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

The Paisley Academy of Performing Arts dance program, which is led by Dr. Kisha Cunningham at , will be awarded the Youth Award, the MDJ says.

The Business Award will be presented to the Marietta Blue Eagles, which offers youth football and cheerleading for boys and girls ages 4 to 12.
