Cobb Travel & Tourism release

Cobb Travel & Tourism celebrated it 21st Annual Meeting and Mixer with partners and friends at the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art on Thursday, Nov. 21.

The Cobb Sports Alliance was officially rolled out at the cocktail reception with a new promotional marketing piece that will allow all sports-related organizations to consistently and collectively highlight our community’s assets.

“We are thinking about sports in a whole new way,“ said Holly Bass, CEO of Cobb Travel & Tourism. “Cobb Travel & Tourism and the Cobb Sports Alliance are positioned to play an even greater role in the economic impact of Cobb County.”

At the beginning of this year, Cobb Travel & Tourism and Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs partnered to conduct a research study with the National Association of Sports Commissioners at the beginning of 2013 to look at the potential of sports in Cobb County. The processes lead our community to a new focus on sports-related tourism. Our mission is to create and support a complete sports, visitor, and community experience, thereby enhancing economic impact.

“With the newly formed Cobb Sports Alliance we can continue to help fuel the economic vitality of the county,” said Eddie Canon, director of Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.

“Cobb Travel & Tourism is the only organization in the county positioned to market all of Cobb County’s assets as a 365-day destination and meet the demands of all visitors, hotels, attractions, and restaurants,” said Bass.

The Spot-On Awards were given out to four partners for their exceptional support of Cobb Travel & Tourism over the past year. Jonathan Graviss from Clear Channel Outdoor won the Hospitality Hero of the Year, Atlanta Marriott Northwest Galleria won the Hotel Partner of the Year, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre won the Attraction of the Year and the Restaurant of the Year went to Ted’s Montana Grill at Cumberland.

“We are grateful to have such outstanding partners in Cobb County,” said Bass. “Their dedication and support provides a strong foundation to welcome visitors to the area.” Travel and tourism is Cobb’s largest industry at $2.18 billion and employing more than 31,000 people.
