Cowboys, Book Sale, Document Shredding

The second annual Wild West Fest, the semi-annual book sale in support of the Cobb Libraries, a charity wine tasting and a gardening workshop are just some of the things happening in Marietta this weekend.

1. It's the at , Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cowboys and cowgirls, gunslingers, fast-draw demonstrations and lasso lessons are just a few of the adventures planned for the day. You can listen to cowboy music and visit the chuck wagon to see how ranch hands cook.

You’ll also witness sheriffs arresting the “bad guys” (local celebrities and community leaders) and taking them to the jail-house on site. They won’t be released until they raise bail money, which will also go to the libraries.

2. The Friends of the Cobb County Public Library System’s semi-annual book sale will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Jim Miller Park.

Donated items for the book sale include soft-cover and hard-back books, magazines, text books, DVD and VHS movies, and children’s books. Prices range from 10 cents to $5.

3. “Wines of Napa Valley” is scheduled Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at to benefit Adopt a Golden Atlanta. A $10 donation per person is requested for the wine sampling and hors d’oeuvres.

4. Keep Marietta Beautiful and Iron Mountain are sponsoring at 591 N Marietta Pkwy NE at 9 a.m. Clear out all of those papers you have been worrying about, and they will be shredded on site.

5. The Green Thumb Gardening Series presented by Marietta Council of Garden Clubs will host a workshop on "Native Plants." Come out to the on Saturday at 8:30 for registration and 9 to 11 a.m. for a presentation. Lunch is include as well as a private tour of local garden or nursery.

6. The Marietta Square Farmers Market will run Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
