Escape to a 90-Mile Yard Sale

Get your truck and some cash and travel the Dixie Highway this weekend.

The annual Dixie Highway 90-mile yard sale runs Friday through Sunday, from 7 or 8 a.m. until dusk each day. Grab your favorite travel partner and bargain hunter and get out and enjoy some of Georgia's backroads and best-kept secrets, the hospitable people.

Follow Old Highway 41 north out of Marietta and through Kennesaw, then keep traveling the route until you get north of Ringgold. Fill up your vehicle with others' discarded treasures. Plan your travels and book a room and stay north for the weekend.

Thanks to a successful Kiwanas yard sale, Kennesaw resident Joe Bennett suggested creating the Dixie Highway yard sale, according to the Dixie Highway website. He thought it would bring traffic to some towns off the beaten path, and he was correct.

Now churches and communities come together to purge their belongings and show people a part of Georgia most miss with the blink of an eye.
