Frugal Families: Festivals, Music, Pets and More

This week Frugal Family features a family Greek festival, membership prices and information for Six Flags White Water, concerts and the Cobb County Animal Control's Spring Adopt-A-Thon.

School is almost out for the summer and Marietta’s Frugal Families are scouting vacation and entertainment ideas for spring and summer fun. Luckily, Marietta offers a wide range of events, and businesses created just for your entertainment pleasure. 

This week Frugal Family features a family Greek festival, 2012 membership prices and information for Six-Flags/Whitewater Parks, the Glover Park Concert Series and the Cobb County Animal Control’s Spring Adopt-A-Thon (everybody wins here).

1)Friday through Sunday, over a dozen authentic vendors set up their shops. In addition to the extensive menu of Greek food, the festival offers many more ways to celebrate the culture of Greece. Come by to see items created in the Greek tradition, such as fine imported Greek jewelry, handmade linens, hip scarves, delicious Greek cuisine, Greek cookbooks and travel books, decorative art pieces, hand done oil paintings, beautiful Mediterranean candle holders, glass blown items and wood crafted items. 2)  takes place on the last Friday evening of each month from April to September. Enjoy music under the stars and be sure to bring a picnic and blankets or set up your lawn chairs after 4 p.m. The free outdoor concerts take place at 8 p.m. rain or shine.

This year’s concert series feature big band music from Still Swinging, a Doobie Brothers Tribute by China Grove, beach music by The Fabulous Expressions, a party rock concert by Yacht Rock, a performance by Georgia Symphony Orchestra formerly the Cobb Symphony Orchestra and part of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra Free Summer Concert Series, and an R&B music performance by Atlanta Pleasure Band.

3) Glover Park Brown Bag Series 2012: From now until this fall, enjoy concerts in the Square each Thursday in May. Grab your lunch at one of the many restaurants around the square and take the kids, friends or co-workers at Glover Park for the Brown Bag Concert Series from 12 to 1 p.m.

The Brown Bag Concert Series is hosted by the and the Cobb County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Bring your lunch and enjoy local musicians entertaining every Thursday at noon during May on the stage in Glover Park at the Square.
