Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show; Thanks 4 Gobbling; GLOW at the Strand

Get out to the 27th Annual Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show, a Thanksgiving craft for kids, the film "Psycho" at the Strand Theatre, "Glow at the Strand" benefitting the Marietta Schools Foundation and more this weekend in Marietta.

1. Gem & Mineral Society’s 27th Annual Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show: Enjoy displays of fossils and minerals, free mineral ID classes and demonstrations at the Cobb Civic Center on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rocks, gemstones, fossils, beads, jewelry and jewelry supplies will be available to view or buy. 2. Have some fun with the kids at Thanks 4 Gobbling on Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Art Station, Big Shanty. The turkey craft takes about 30 to 45 minutes to make and is recommended for ages two to 13. There is a $5 fee and pre-registration is advised.

3. "Psycho" will be presented at the Strand Theatre on Nov. 16 at 8 p.m.

4. Come out to Jim Miller Park for the Cobb Family and Children Services Food Distribution on Nov. 16 and 17. For more information, call 770.428.2601.

5. "GLOW at the Strand" benefitting the Marietta Schools Foundation will be presented on Nov. 15 from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The band GLOW has been tagged as the "best musicians and vocalist in the Southeast, bar none!" Tickets are on sale now at the Strand for $20 per person.

6. GMA, Inc., & Denise James, Playwright presents a stage play "I Give Myself Away: on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Strand Theatre. Live musical performances will be presented during intermission by local talented teens and young adults.

“I Give Myself Away” was written to bring an awareness of the importance and the many benefits of the arts in the lives of our young people. The play follows four teens as they struggle to find their place, learn through the process and discover their uniqueness as they learn that their gifts are gifts to others.
