Get Your Spook On in Marietta

Alternative trick-or-treating, haunted jogs, a zombie walk and spooky movie marathon, Halloween parties and a trunk-or-treat: how will you choose to celebrate?

1. The is an event for all ages. The 5K starts at 5 p.m. at and ends at , the 1 mile graveyard scramble starts at 6 p.m. at Barclay Circle at Life University and the yellow brick road tot trot starts at 6:15 p.m. at Lyceum Park at Life University.

Events include a showing of the movie "Hocus Pocus" in Life's Standard Process Amphitheater, children's games and activities, a costume contest, haunted village, photo booth, refreshments and a graveyard ghouls BBQ.

Festivities run from 5 to 10 p.m. at SPSU. The event is hosted by the , and and benefits the Marietta Police Athletic League, a chapter of a world-wide program utilizing sports as a basis for positive interaction between law enforcement officers and kids to provide them with a foundation for good decision making.

2. Carnival of Doom is sponsoring the first annual on Saturday. In addition to giving participants a chance to live out the zombie dreams of being part of a local hoard, the Marietta Zombie Walk encourages the undead to help the living by bringing donated canned goods to benefit .

Participants will make their way around historic Marietta and the square in a somewhat orderly fashion. Anyone is welcome to join in the walk, provided that they come in costume.

The Infestation (gathering time) starts at 5 p.m. in Glover Park with the Feeding (The Zombie Walk) starting at 6 p.m.

The will screen . Before the first and last set of movies, at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., there will be a live spooky sing along and preshow on the "Might Allen Theatre Organ."

3. Come to the on Saturday at the . The event will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. This event will provide children a safe alternative to the traditional trick-or-treat in their neighborhood.

The will include arts and crafts, games, inflatable rides, police and fire prevention activities, costume and coloring contest, a photo booth decorated just for pictures you may want to take and lots more for the entire families’ enjoyment. Parking, admission, games, candy and contests are free.

The event is hosted by along with Cobb County 4-H and the Cobb Safe Kids. 

4. starts at 8 p.m. Saturday at the at Marietta Station. A variety of beer and a zombie-repelling signature drink are included with tickets, $20 in advance or $30 at door. Participants of the receive a $5 discount at the door.

5. Come to the at the on Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. People will park their cars in the parking lot, open their trunks and decorate them, and pass out treats. Enjoy food, trick or treating, a costume contest and games and prizes.
