The night was dedicated to Harry Livingston Sr., one of Marietta's best-known WWII veterans and a 1937 graduate of .

Livingston was a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot. In 1944, his and 10 other "Forts" were shot down on a mission to Berlin. 

After being interrogated by a German officer, he was placed in captivity with 95 other prisoners, according to the . The prisoners were sent on a 95 mile "death march" in the winter to keep them from falling into the hands of the Russian Army. 

Livingston's POW camp was liberated in 1945. He returned to Marietta, married his high school sweetheart and was awarded the Air Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and a POW Medal.
