Jamming Through the Weekend

Karaoke, rock and jazz infuse Marietta's weekend with chances to take a breath and relax or let loose and party.

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1.Faces Lounge is a watering hole like no other. It's time to find another Faces Shooting Star. The next Karaoke Idol contest kicks off on Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. and runs nine weeks.

Faces Lounge is open six days a week, with karaoke Wednesday through Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Metro is on-call; $10 and a tip gets you and your car home safely locally.

2. Brewster's Neighborhood Grille has Sinner Sanctum in house on Friday. Gigi Greene sings strong leads with a deep male tone to her voice. Come enjoy some hard hitting cover tunes.

Saturday, the combined talents of The Barry Richman Band and Jeff Robinson bring a jazz infused night of bluesy rock into the joint.

Sunday, come be the star at karaoke with Spirit Entertainment.

3. The Local at Sidelines is always a nonsmoking atmosphere to have fun. Friday night, FUGM takes the stage to belt out some rock cover tunes from the past and present.

4. Dixie Tavern knows great music and this weekend is no exception.

Thursday, Noah Sampson singing his originals to get you ready for the weekend.

Friday, Aclarian brings a mix of originals and music from NIN, Incubus, Seven Dust and Three Days Grace. This is not your average alternative cover band, come out and see for yourself.

Yacht Rock Schooner is the little boat that can rock you like the seas. Come out and enjoy some of Atlanta's most talented musicians and get down with the Nation of Smooth.

5. Paddy's Irish Pub and Eatery kicks off bike nights in September with $7.95 all-you-can-eat wings and $2 domestic bottle specials on Tuesday nights. Local musicians are on the deck for your listening pleasure.

Friday, under the groovy lights, Double Shot Down makes their debut appearance.

Saturday is Sept. 17, and in true Irish Spirit, each month is a St. Paddy's party to remember. Enjoy The Kristen Tinsley Band and some green beer and corned beef rolls.
