Lane Closure on Piedmont Road

The Cobb DOT yellow striped one southbound turn lane at Canton Road left onto Piedmont Road and limited it to one lane on Monday.

Sidewalk installation is the cause of the Piedmont Road lane closure.

"Yesterday there was a lane closure on Piedmont for sidewalk being installed," District 3 Engineer Scott Jordan of the Cobb County Department of Transportation told Northeast Cobb Patch. "That should be temporary and restricted to only the hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m."

According to Jordan, the second southbound left turn lane was not warranted at the time of design but a lane was built so when a second left hand turn lane is warranted all that will have to be done is a small amount of restriping.

U-turns will be restricted at this intersection when/if a second left turn lane is added, said Jordan.
