Marietta Begins Return to Normalcy

Kids return to school; City and county offices all re-open; Trash gets picked up; Businesses open. Yeah, Marietta is finally back to normal.

1. Pinch yourselves to make sure it's true. Marietta City and Cobb County students all finally return to school today. Yes, today. Don't miss the bus and don't be late for school. They are open on time.

2. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners holds its comprehensive plan hearing and regular meeting that has been previously scheduled for last week. The former will start at 9 a.m., followed by the latter at 10 a.m. Both meetings will be held at the commission room on the second floor at 100 Cherokee St.

3. The Cobb Police Department will hold a public hearing for community input concerning its accreditation. The hearing begins at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Cobb Public Safety Training Center auditorium, 2109 Valor Drive.

4. Decisions, decisions. So many hearings and meetings to choose from today. Here are two more: The Community Relations Council meets at 6 p.m. at the Central Cobb County Library, 266 Roswell St., while the Civil Service Board meets at the same time at the Board of Commissioners Room on the second floor at 100 Cherokee St.

5. The Marietta High School Blue Devils take on Wheeler High School in basketball tonight. At Wheeler's home court located at the school at 375 Holt Road , the junior varsity squads take the court at 4:30 p.m., followed by the freshman teams at 6 p.m. For the varsity match-up, Marietta has the home-court advantage when play starts at 7:30 p.m.  Go Blue Devils!
