Marietta, Cobb County Lane Closures, Delays

Take a look at the road work being done around Marietta and Cobb Oct. 8 through Oct. 12, including Jamerson, Roswell, Bishop Lake, Aviation, Laramie and Floyd Roads, and Brookwood and Busbee Drives.

Here is a look at the road work being done around Cobb this week, Oct. 8 through Oct. 12, according to Commissioner JoAnn Birrell.

Jamerson Road/Wigley Road Construction Update

Canton Road to Trickum Road: This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will be fine grading, grassing and working on punchlist items.

Trickum Road to Jims Road: No lane closures expected between Trickum Road and Jims Road. The contractor will be fine grading and grassing shoulders.

Jims Road to Sandy Plains Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wigley Road and Sandy Plains Road. One lane will remain open at all times for your commute. The contractor will be placing concrete and asphalt pavement in this area. 

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations, which will include lane closures with one lane remaining open at all times, are scheduled on the following roads, according to Birrell, Woody Thompson and Bob Ott:

  • Busbee Drive from Chastain Road to George Busbee Parkway; Night work.
  • Bishop Lake Road from Johnson Ferry Road to Roswell Road (SR 120) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Aviation Road from South Marietta Pkwy to end of CCT Transfer Station. Night Work.
  • King Springs Road from Smyrna City Limits to Cooper Lake Rd. Daytime work between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Brookwood Drive from East-West Connector to dead end (Saturday)
  • Mulkey Road from Austell Road to Brookwood Drive; Night work.

Lower Roswell Road Construction

Davidson Rd to Surrey Trail: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Davidson Road and Surrey Trail with one lane remaining open for your commute. The contractor will be grading and placing concrete. Sewer work will continue from Hyde Road to Glenverness Drive.

Mill Run Drive to Willow Point Pkwy: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Mill Run Dr and Willow Point Pkwy with one lane remaining open for your commute.  The contractor will be grading and placing concrete.

Willow Point Pkwy to Timber Ridge Road: Also, expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Pkwy and Timber Ridge Rd with one lane remaining open for your commute. The contractor will continue clearing operations in Phase 2.  Utilities relocation should not affect your service.

Laramie Drive

Laramie Drive will be closed between Paces Ferry Rd and Cochise Drive. Laramie Drive will be closing on Monday, Oct. 8 and is expected to reopen by Monday, Oct. 22. The contractor will be repairing the storm drainage pipe under the roadway.

Floyd Road Construction Update

Clay Road to Hicks Road: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will begin installing new water main, storm drainage and grading. Utility companies will be relocating services which should not affect your service.

Hicks Road Sidewalks Construction Update

Frontier Trail to Floyd Oaks Drive: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will be installing storm drainage, concrete curb/gutter and sidewalk. Utility companies may begin relocating services, which should not affect your service.
