Marietta Father of Three Wins $250,000

Darrell Garner says his winnings from the instant lottery game will go toward his wedding and family.

Surprise was the reaction of Darrell Garner of Marietta upon winning a quarter-million dollar prize when playing Jeep Outdoor Adventure, a Georgia Lottery instant game.

Garner, 32, and his fiancée Candice each had a ticket in hand when he scratched the winner, Georgia Lottery spokesperson Kimberly Starks said in a news release.

“We both started crying,” Garner said in the release. “All we could think about was our family.”

The couple have three children ages 10, 12 and 13.

Garner is a supervisor for a transportation company. His winnings will go toward the couple’s wedding and their family.

“We’ll be married within the year,” he said in the release. “We’re going to buy a house to accommodate all the children.”

Publix Super Market, 2900 Delk Rd., sold the lucky ticket.
