Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum Gets New Additions

The Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum is now home to a reproduction of the Burgundy Dress from "Gone With the Wind" and two seats from Loew's Grand Theatre, where the film premiered in Atlanta in 1939.

Two items were unveiled at the on Sunday during the weekend.

The Burgundy Dress

A reproduction of the Burgundy Dress from the collection of costumers Mike and Sarah Goodson of Chattanooga, Tenn., is now on display along side the the , an original prop from the movie. 

The reproduction of the burgundy dress worn by "Scarlett" at "Ashley's" birthday was recreated in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Gone with the Wind.

The dress was sewn to the original specifications of designer and Hollywood Icon Walter Plunkett.

Seats from Loew's Grand Theatre

On Dec. 15, 1939, Gone With the Wind premiered at the Loew's Grand Theatre in Atlanta.

In 2005, Councilman Philip Goldstein donated a number of original seats from the theater to the Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum. The seats remained in storage until a few months ago when Steve Neal of the City of Marietta Parks & Recreation Department began restoration.

The two seats that are on display are "Dedicated to the Memory of Robert "Rosty" Rosterman, Friend and Gentleman."
