Marietta Music Scene Brings the Heat

Some like it hot -- get out this weekend and enjoy some music

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1.The Local at Sidelines Marietta hosts the organic sounds of Watershed on stage Friday. Saturday Whiskey Belt takes the stage belting out country classics, and is led by Rich DeSantis with a beautiful mix of vocals, guitar, bass, pedal steel, keys, drums and fiddle. The first time I met Rich was stellar -- he came onto stage dressed to the nines and rocked my face off with The Slim Chickens. He is one of my favorites and a very talented Atlanta musician.

2.Dixie Tavern has High Meadow Rocks on Friday. Saturday, from the Nation of Smooth, it's the little rock boat that can, Yacht Rock Schooner . The Yacht Rock Schooner, just like it's big boat brother, Yacht Rock, is comprised of some of Atlanta's hardest-working musicians with an aptitude to rock.

Saturday is the smooth yet hard driving music of The Grayson Hill Band. Come on out and get your wing on.

4.Glover Park Concert Series brings music outdoors for the Marietta masses. Jesters has an R&B and Beach sound. Pack your picnic basket, spread out your blankie and enjoy an evening under the Marietta stars.
