Marietta Music Scene: Thankful for Local Flavors

This Thanksgiving weekend, enjoy family and friends, eat, be merry, shop and get out and rock.

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. Dixie Tavern is rocking this holiday weekend. Friday night continue your holiday festivities with Tyler Reeve with Sol Junky, come on out and dance off some of that turkey. Saturday, Whiskey Belt and Psycho DeVilles bring a strong musical aptitude, high energy and fun to . Crank up your Hot Rod, burn some rubber on your way out of the driveway or strap the saddle to the horse and ride on in. Monday nights are host to open mic, backline provided.

2. Brewster's Neighborhood Bar and Grille has the weekend planned out. Friday night, Jeff Robinson jams with the Barry Richman Band. Real blues, well played. Saturday come out and get you some Freewheelin' tunes with Mike Garrett and Frankie Aster, two men with a large band sound. Cold drinks and yummy food are always a plus at Brewster's.

3. gets Friday rolling with Operation Experimental. With a combined experience of 50 years, this trio mixes a wide range of influences to vibrate your soul. Like it loud, hard, heavy, and a bit different, this is the band for us. Saturday and Sunday, Nathan Morgan is in the house to melt the minds of listeners, both young and old. Funky Fiasco on Monday, and open mic with Bones & Hobo on Tuesday. All players welcome, novice to Rock Star status can to take the stage.

4. Wild Wing Cafe Marietta knows great local music. Friday night, Back n' Black, an AC/DC Tribute band always brings it. Saturday, party tunes by The Ruckus inspire you to move. Atlanta has some serious talent and Wild Wing Marietta sure can book it.

5. Hamby's Clocktower Tavern has been open just a short time but enjoys good music. Friday night, Davis Daniel plays his style of country acoustic. In a three year span he had three songs enter the top 40 Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks. Luckie Street gets some booty shakin' going on Saturday. Tuesday Night is the acoustic open mic night hosted by Bill Sheffield. Bill is an Atlanta native and musical legend, he has decades of musical influence running through him submerged into Delta Blues, Folk and Roots music .
