Marietta Music Scene: Get Out and Have Fun

The leaves are changing; time to put on your favorite boots and sweater and go play!

With the metropolis of Atlanta to the south and numerous renowned musical venues peppered across the metro area, Marietta's music scene is often lost amid the din. But as any Marietta music lover knows, the local scene here remains vibrant and essential. Marietta Patch is here to help you navigate it.

1. knows great music. The Ruckus fills the house on Friday. Local grown studio musicians bring the party music to the stage to rev you up for the weekend.

Saturday, Shyanne brings their rock covers to the ears of the cold beer drinkers and wild wing eaters.

2. Darwin's Burgers and Blues is remodeled and back to juking on a regular basis. Thursday Nights are an open blues jam; come early to sign in and enjoy some mouth watering food and drinks. Rosedale Allstars are ready to play some swingin' blues, roots and boogie on Friday for your enjoyment.

Saturday, Frankie Blues Mission, three musicians combined with decades of talent in everything from blues, gospel and jazz with a heart for tradition, are sure to make their time at Darwin's a must see. Friday through Satrday. $5 cover charge.

3. Hamby's Clocktower Tavern is the new place in town. Still getting their feet wet in it all, every Thursday is an acoustic open mic night.

Friday night, Cobb County home grown musician Jimmy Dean will be singing and strumming with his roots deep into his Momma's country music background. His lovely and talented daughter Kara may even come out to sing with Dad.

Saturday is the soul, fusion and groove of Luckie Street Band to keep the Clocktower ticking.

4. At the edge of the city limits, Dixie Tavern packs the place with incredible local talent. Thursday, come enjoy some southern rock with The Daniel Lee Band to get the weekend started.

Friday, Flux Capacitor brings the 80's cover tunes to Marietta. Pull out the parachute pants, and come dance the night away.

Saturday, Main Street Exiles bring the stylings of The Rolling Stones to a night out in Marietta.

5. Harness your inner punk rocker (or drop off your teenage punk rocker) and rock. Swayze's Venue is an all ages, no alcohol establishment that presents all kinds of musical and youthful chaos.

Thursday night, $10 at the door, doors open at 7 p.m.:
