New Playground Equipment Coming to Cobb Park

The 15-year-old wooden Kidscape Village will be replaced by a newer metal and plastic play structure.

The bad news is Smyrna kids won’t be able to play in Cobb Park’s Kidscape Village this weekend, but the good news is brand-new equipment will be installed next week.

As Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation Tonya Jackson said, the current wooden play structure that was installed in 1997 “has finally lived its life.” She said at that the new equipment will be made of metal and plastic and is designed for children ages five to 12, though there will be some features designed for children ages two to five.

City staff will demolish the existing play structure Thursday, Aug. 23. However, the spider web play area and the swing set will not be removed. The new equipment will be installed some time next week.
