Road Work: Shiloh, Lower Roswell, Shallowford, Old Sewell Roads

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Marietta and Cobb County, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation.

Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction

Shiloh/Shallowford Road from Wade Green Road to Canton Road, Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18
Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues grading, installing storm drainage crossings, concrete curb and utilities relocating services. 

New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement

New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek, Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18
Contractor will be milling and placing asphalt pavement on the roadway approaches to the bridge. This will include lane shifts to complete all the work.

Shallowford Road Sidewalk Construction

Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road, Monday, Oct. 14 through 
Friday, Oct. 18
Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues grading operations and placing concrete curb and sidewalk.

Old Sewell Road Sidewalks Construction

Holt Road to Old Canton Road, Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18
Contractor will continue wall construction and installing water main. Utilities will be relocating services.

Skip Spann Connector (Busbee-Frey Connector)

This proposed project is a new bridge over Interstate 75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive.

Floyd Road Construction

Clay Road to Hicks Road, Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18
Expect periodic lane closures 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues installing curb and gutter, storm drainage, grading and signal work. Utility companies will be relocating services. 

Pedestrian Access
Temporary sidewalks are in place to assist pedestrians while old sidewalks are removed and new sidewalks are constructed along the east side of Floyd Road. Additional traffic barrels and directional signage are in place to assist pedestrians needing access to existing bus stops on the west side of Floyd. All existing bus stops will be maintained.

Brookwood Drive Sidewalk Construction

Silver Comet Trail to Anderson Mill Road, Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18
Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues installing storm drainage, curb and gutter and utility relocations.

Ewing Road Sidewalk Construction

Clay Road to Eloquent Lane, Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18
Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues clearing and installing storm drainage and water main. Utility companies will be relocating services.

Pisgah Road Sidewalk Construction

South Gordon Road to Wallace Park, Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18
The contractor will begin clearing and utility company will relocate services.

Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement

Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25. 
The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route will be provided during construction. 

Lower Roswell Road Construction

Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway, Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18
This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list.

Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road, Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Oct. 18
Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. 

Concord Road Construction – City of Smyrna

South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road, Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18
Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times. The Evelyn Street intersection with Concord Road has been permanently closed.

Roswell Road (SR120) Construction - GDOT

Providence Road to Robinson Road 
This GDOT project will require periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations, which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times, are scheduled Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18, on the following roads: 

• Bells Ferry Road from Cobb Parkway to I-575 Bridge
• Kurtz Road from Bells Ferry Road to Canton Road
• Sewell Mill Road from Roswell Rd. to Johnson Ferry Rd. 
• Pebblebrook Road from Veterans Memorial Highway to Buckner Road
• Hilcrest Drive from South Gordon Road to Six Flags Parkway
• Six Flags Drive from Blair Bridge Road to Factory Shoals Road
• Sewell Mill Road from Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road
• New Paces Ferry Road from Paces Ferry Road to Paces Ferry Road
• Beech Haven Trail from Log Cabin Drive to Cumberland Parkway
• Log Cabin Drive from Dead End to Beech Haven Trail
