Safe Rides Home for New Year's Revelers
Marietta bars and restaurants who have joined forces with local non-profit and for-profit driver services to ensure New Year's Eve revelers get home safe.
The New Year is upon us and many residents will be out and about enjoying time with family and friends at local restaurants and parties. In an effort to help with community safety, several establishments in the area are offering free or discounted rides home before and after the Atlanta Peach hits the ground at midnight.
Wild Wing Cafe located at 2145 Roswell Rd., Suburban Tap located at 1318 Johnson Ferry Rd., and Paradise Grill, 3605 Sandy Plains Rd. are sponsors for Metro American Safe Drivers, which is providing free rides home for patrons of the cafe. The driver service also provides a second driver to take the driver's car home safely as well.
Dixie Tavern, 2319 Windy Hill Rd. is having a New Year's Eve party with live music, a champagne toast at midnight and a free buffet after the toast. There is a $10 cover charge. Dixie Tavern is a sponsor of SafeRide America, which is offering a discounted rate of a $10 pick up fee with an additional $2 per mile plus tip for the driver. This rate also includes a second person that will drive the owner's car home. This special offer is based on pick-ups from pubs or restaurants that sponsor their service. Dixie Tavern also uses the services of Cobb County Designated Driver.
SafeRide America will pick up customers at any establishment that serves alcohol in Cobb County for a $15 pick-up fee and $2.50 per mile plus tip for the driver. This fee includes the second person to drive the owner's car as well. Service is available 24 hours by calling 404-888-0887.
Metro American Safe Drivers service hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. everyday, 770-507-3332. Using this service from a participating sponsor location is free of charge to the customer. Rates for this service from a non-participating location are $20 for the first 10 miles and $3 for each additional mile and include a second driver for your car.
Cobb County Designated Driver, 404-918-5692, is available for pick ups anytime from anywhere in Cobb County, with advance reservations. This service also provides two drivers to get you and your car home safely. Rates are $20 for the first 12 miles with a $3 charge for each additional mile thereafter. Tips are appreciated.
