Scarecrows on Marietta Square in 2012

Schools and local groups are displaying their straw-made characters in Marietta's annual fall contest: Scarecrows on the Square 2012.

The public, city and county schools and school organizations show their group, business or school's creativity and personality by making a scarecrow as part of the city's annual Scarecrows on the Square contest each fall.

Marietta Parks and Recreation Department sponsors this event each fall.

Entries are judged on originality, construction and presentation. Scarecrows will be judged Oct. 10 and announced at the Halloween Happenings costume contest at the Harvest Square Arts and Crafts Festival on Oct. 20 at 1:45 p.m.
