Sense of Early Spring Offers Plenty of Family Fun

Inside or outside, this weekend offers great fun. A flower show can give you ideas for the planting season, while geocaching offers the family a unique chance for the family to get out and get active.

We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

Here are some of our suggestions:

1. Parents Palooza at Cobb Galleria.
Parents of infants, toddlers, kids and teens will find hundreds of useful products and services at this parenting expo. Take part in the family rock band competition and win giveaways and prizes. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5 to 18 and free for kids under 5. At the door, tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids ages 5 to 18 and free for kids under 5. For information, visit http://www.parentspalooza.com/

2. 24th Annual Southeastern Flower ShowIn Tune with Blooms at Cobb Galleria.

One of the area's largest flower shows, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. General admission tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. Tickets for seniors are $15 and for youth and students, $7. A three-day pass is $35.

3. Sharing the Story of Slavery at Bulloch Hall, 180 Bulloch Ave. in Roswell.

In this historical home, each room displays many of the chores and tasks of the Bulloch slaves, opening discussions about the important role they played in the Bulloch household and throughout the South in the mid 1800s. 

Hourly tours are available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for ages 6 to 18.

4. The Fantasticks! presented by CenterStage North and Mountain View Arts Alliance. This weekend's performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $8.

5. Geocaching

More than 40 Georgia state parks have hidden "caches" found by using a GPS unit.  The park system offers a Geo-Challenge for those who wish to find all of the geocaches. It's a perfect game for families who love technology as well as trails.
