Teen Girl Nearly Crushed as Tree Crashes Into Bedroom

A 15-year-old Marietta girl was asleep early Wednesday when a tree fell on her house, collapsing the ceiling onto her bed.

High winds on Wednesday blew down a huge pine tree that landed on a Marietta house and narrowly missed crushing a sleeping teenager inside.

Kenya Parker’s house on Dorris Drive off Windy Ridge Road was seriously damaged as the tree landed on her 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Parker told Channel 2 her daughter suffered some cuts and was traumatized when the tree almost flattened her. Video shows beams from the roof nearly on the teen’s bed and floor of the room.

“Hearing the tree crack and watching it fall from my window and landing on my daughter’s room was very traumatic,” Parker said.

Neighbors called 911 and helped the family get out of the house. Firefighters had to disconnect electricity at the home, which has been deemed structurally unsound.
