The city of Marietta has released version two of its MyMarietta mobile app. The new version of the free MyMarietta app is compatible with the iPhone. The Android version will be available in late September.
The updated version of the app allows users to access their utility account with Marietta Power and view up-to-date map data provided directly from the city's GIS department including parcel information, zoning, parking, and parks and recreation facilities. In addition, the mobile device will permit access for citizens to watch all City Council meetings, board meetings and community events on demand.
Originally unveiled last year for Android and iOS, including the iPad, the app will continue to allow citizens to report concerns, request services and get city news wherever they are in the city.
Once the app is downloaded and installed on a device, the user can report non-hazardous issues* inside the Marietta city limits related to potholes, noise, signs, trees or traffic lights, etc. Users can submit requests with an address, coordinates from the device's built-in GPS and even upload photos. A case number is issued upon submission, and users can use the app to track the progress of the submitted issue. The app is currently available on iTunes App Store and will be available in the Android Market in September.
"Currently, Marietta Power and Water customers can't pay their bill using the mobile app, but city staff hopes to have this up and running in the near future," Marietta's information technology director Ronnie Barrett said.
With the updated version of the app, Marietta Power and Water customers can access their account 24 hours a day to view their balance and payment history. The app allows customers to contact Marietta Power and Water directly from their smartphone.
