Weekend Spotlight: Veterans Day [VIDEO]

Find out how you can celebrate Veterans Day this weekend and support your local veterans by participating in the Distribution of Poppies.

Note: The City of Smyrna is holding a Veterans Day ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at Brinkley Park, in addition to the Veterans Day service held by The American Legion 160 at 11 a.m. outside of the Legion office on 160 Legion Drive.

This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features an area Veterans Day event in Smyrna where residents can show their support for local veterans.

The 5th Annual Smyrna Veterans Day Service will be held this Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Brinkley Park next to The American Legion Post 160 office at 160 Legion Drive SE in Smyrna. The event is open to the public.

Residents can help support local veterans and their families by making donations at the Distribution of Poppies events by the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 160 throughout the weekend (watch the video above for details on time and location).

The Auxiliary distribute poppies on both Memorial weekend and Veterans weekend to raise money to aid veterans and their families.

You can celebrate Veterans Day with a parade and ceremony on Marietta Square on Nov. 10 at 11 a.m.

The parade starts at Rosweel Street Baptist Church and proceeds to the Square. The ceremony will follow the parade around noon in Glover Park.

Good grief, if the rifle can kill someone, why on earth would you give it to a five-year-old? ThisRead More one just boggles my mind. I hope that even the NRA has a problem with this.

This is a fine example of freedom being too much to handle for some folks. The idiots who gave theRead More kid the gun should be jailed. Its obvious that a 5 year old should neither posses, nor handle a firearm period. Having said that I am a full supporter of the Second Amendment and the NRA. However we cannot measure the validity of the right to bear arms by using these idiot parents as a case study.
