Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

Here are some of our suggestions:

1. , 520 South Fairground St., 770-528-8465. Whether you need swimming lessons, try out for a swim team, swim a few laps or just take a dip with the family, the Aquatics Center at Larry Bell Park is a great bet at any time of the year.

2. First Friday Art Walk. The first Art Walk of 2011 runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday around Historic Marietta Square. Galleries and merchants will feature local artists in their shops. And this year's walk features Artists' Alley, a juried exhibit of art students. For information, call 770-429-1115.

3. The Root House Museum at 145 Denmead St., 770-426-4982. Built in 1845 by Hannah and William Root, the Root House Museum offers visitors a glimpse of the home life of a middle class merchant and his family. Owned and operated by the Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society, it is one of the oldest surviving frame houses in Marietta and is furnished with period furniture in the fashion of the 1850s. Guests can walk among flower beds and vegetable plots in a garden that reflects the gardening practices of the mid 19th century, as well as see the recreated kitchen and working 1850s cook stove. The museume is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and for each member of groups of 10 or more.

4. Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum, Scarlett on the Square, 18 Whitlock Ave., 770-794-5576. When Gone With the Wind premiered in Atlanta in 1939, the world fell in love with Scarlett and Rhett. The love affair continues at this popular Marietta museum, which features rare memorabilia from the movie, Margaret Mitchell, and her Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Housed in a former livery stable and cotton warehouse from 1875, the collection includes scripts, books, props, movie posters, and the original bengaline honeymoon gown worn by Vivien Leigh in her Oscar winning role as Scarlett.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sundays and major holidays. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students. Groups of 15 or more get discounted $5 tickets.

5.The Little Foxes at , 11 Whitlock Ave., 770-422-8369. This play, recommended for 14 and up, reveals the family entanglements, personal betrayals and one of literature’s most captivating Southern women. The first preview is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $12.
