Coworkers Paint Angels to Support Mom Who Lost Kids in Crash

The Delta flight attendant lost her three children and ex-husband in a plane crash last November. Two charity painting events will show support and raise money for Karen Sommerstedt-Perry.

Coworkers came together like family to paint angels at the Angels for Karen charity event. The April 18 event at Paint the Town on Marietta Square was the first of two honoring .

"The awesome response from her co-workers has astounded me," said. "In this day of 'each man for himself' I found a wonderful team at Delta that truly cares for each other like family! A company and coworkers that show compassion and support is a rare find."

Perry's three children, Morgan, 9, Logan, 8, and Luke, 6, and their father Shawn Perry were killed in an Arizona plane crash on Nov. 23, 2011.

Perry, who works as a Delta flight attendant, is also a breast cancer survivor. . 

The Delta employees wanted to do something for Perry and decided to raise money and show support with a Paint the Town event. The first painting charity event raised about $500, and they expect to raise $500 more.

"I am honored to be a part of this worthy cause," Bryant said. "I am thankful that the flight attendants chose Paint the Town for these two support events for Karen Perry." 

Fifty-five people attended the first event and about 60 people are expected to attend on May 4 at 6:30 p.m. You can call 770-419-7332 or sign-up at paintthetownmarietta.com to attend.

Live music will be provided by Peyton Parker and Rod Bond (The Cosmic West). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the 3Light Benefit for Karen Perry. Finished paintings will be donated back to the 3Light Benefit for auction.
