You can just come trick or treat and play games.

You can host a trunk and pass out non-food “treats”.

You can do both!

Safe for children with all food allergies!

What is a Trunk or Safe Treat?

A Trunk or Safe Treat is a Halloween event where people gather and park their cars in a large parking lot. They open their trunks, or the backs of their vehicles, and decorate them. Then they pass out food free “treats” from their trunks. The event provides a safe family environment for children with food allergies while allowing them to experience the joy of trick or treating. Going from car to car in the parking lot is like going from house to house in a neighborhood. Our “neighborhood” is being closely controlled for allergens.

Ways to participate:

Get your kids in costume and bring them to the Trunk or Safe Treat. Siblings are welcome too! We will have fun games and prizes from 3:30 pm—5:30 pm. The Trunk or Safe Treat will begin at 4 pm.

We encourage families to get in on the fun of hosting a trunk. Come at 2:30 pm to decorate your trunk.

We have specific guidelines on trunk decorations to ensure no food items (including pumpkins) or common allergens such as latex and hay that are used in decorating. Please have enough “treats” for 50 children. This is a 100% food free event, so please do not bring any food or drink items to the event. Food Allergy Kids of Atlanta will be providing bottled water. Please remember to clean hands before or immediately after arriving!

Each family will be given a ballot to cast their vote for the trunk they like best. The trunk with the most votes is our winner! Most creative costume prize will be determined by our planning committee. The winner of the costume prize will be announced at 4:30 pm. Best trunk will be announced at 5:30 pm.

RSVP: To ensure we offer the best Trunk or Safe Treat experience to all families, we are requiring an RSVP to attend this event. The more the merrier, but we need an accurate count. Please RSVP by October 26, 2011 to partake in the fun!

RSVP to Shandy Arwood at shandy@foodallergykidsatl.org or 404-229-8243. Any questions, we are more than happy to answer them. Just call or e mail Shandy! Volunteers are needed to help with games!

Shandy will provide all the information you need to know about hosting a trunk, ideas for themes and food free treat ideas.

Parents, this is a chance for you to relax and just enjoy watching your kids being kids!

Don’t miss out on the fun—RSVP today! We look forward to seeing you all!
